The Story of Jockey Hollow–
A Legacy of Strategy and Resilience

Jockey Hollow holds a special place in American history as the strategic encampment of George Washington and the Continental Army during the harsh winter of 1779-1780. Positioned at an elevation that provided a tactical advantage, Jockey Hollow played a crucial role in the pursuit of American independence. Though no battles were fought there, Washington's foresight and strategic acumen were instrumental in staving off British forces.

Today, Jockey Hollow is part of the Morristown National Historic Park, the first national historic park in the United States. Managed by the National Park Service, it welcomes visitors who are eager to explore its natural beauty and historical significance.
